School House Jam returns in Rockport for 2010. This event is a benefit to raise money for the upkeep and maintenance of the Rockport Recreation Hall. Since 1925, this building has served the community as a school, senior’s facility, and now a recreation hall. The funding for the maintenance and upkeep of this facility is the responsibility of the Rockport Recreation Hall Committee and is derived from fundraising events throughout the year.
School House Jam is a one-day celebration of music and art to be held on the School House property in Rockport. This festival will be held on Saturday June 26th, rain or shine, as the organizers have several large tents for shade or shelter! Our event is fully licensed with an amazing selection of beers from McAuslan Breweries and a tasty barbeque put on by the Georgian Dragon so plan on staying for dinner. The day will feature local musical acts, artists, kid’s games and more! The event runs from 3pm to 8pm and is free for all who attend. Bring a lawn chair and plan on spending the day.
The committee is currently looking for volunteers, music acts, and sponsors who want to help support the cause. This year we are focusing on solo artists and individuals who may not play in a band but want to strut their stuff. Our feature act, DnR will supply the backing for anyone who wants to get up and “Jam”. Our musical theme this year is “Sing the Blues” so dust off your guitar, start practising your favourite blues song and join us. If you are interested in participating, please email
