School House Jam 2009, Thanks for a great event!

2009 School House Jam

The organizers of the first annual School House Jam want to take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors and attendees for a successful first event. In what was the hottest day of the year, just shy of 400 people made their way to the School House grounds to take in the art, music, food and fun. Almost $4700 was raised to benefit the Rockport Recreation Hall, which will ensure that it can continue to operate and serve the community.

Overall, the organizers are extremely happy with their first event.” We started with baby steps this year,” says Joseph Baptista one of the event organizers. “We knew that this year would be a learning experience for us and we tried to keep everything as simple as possible. We couldn’t have done it without the efforts of our volunteers and sponsors.” The entire event was self-sustaining based on the support of local media outlets, generous donations from sponsors for equipment, supplies and money as well as the donation of time by the volunteers who ran the event.

School House Jam is going to be an annual event and work will start on next year’s event almost immediately. If you want to get on board as a sponsor or volunteer for School House Jam 2010, send us an email using the Contact Us section of the website. The organizing committee is also planning a more intimate evening of acoustic music called School House Jam Unplugged to be held during the winter carnival in February. Stay tuned for more details.
